About Hampton Newport News South Eastern Family Project
The South-Eastern Family Project (SEFP) is a residential treatment program in Newport News, Virginia that provides addiction care for pregnant and postpartum women.
Operated through the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, the center supports women with substance use disorders, co-occurring conditions and trauma histories through gender-specific residential care.
The program provides support for women and families to establish a healthy, drug-free lifestyle through a holistic approach that fosters physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.
Recovery for Pregnant and Postpartum Women
The center includes residential substance use treatment for pregnant and recently postpartum women 18 and older.
The program is staffed by licensed health care professionals, nurses, therapists, peer recovery specialists and residential support staff who develop a comprehensive plan for both mother and baby before and after birth.
Treatment incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy, peer recovery support, case management and medication-assisted treatment within a structured 24-hour setting to help ensure safety and comfort.
A Holistic, Family-Centered Environment
Beyond clinical care, SEFP offers a residential home where each woman has her own private room alongside shared common areas for meals and connection.
The nicotine, tobacco and vape-free environment supports whole-person wellness while reinforcing healthy routines for parenting and long-term recovery.
