In addition to the regular short term residential treatment programs available at St. Monica’s, they have a unique program called Women Are Sacred. Women Are Sacred is for parenting and pregnant Native American mothers.
Native American women who already have children or are about to give birth and have been sober for at least 30 days or have completed a treatment program are eligible. The program is trauma informed and includes the children in the treatment plan.
Moms receive an individualized plan that includes an assessment for the children to ensure their needs are met. Individual and group counseling, educational groups, and birth plans are included. There’s an onsite early childhood program that operates during program hours.
Moms use the Red Road to Wellbriety, a study guide and workbook for Native Americans on their journey to sobriety. The curriculum includes the Circle of Security model that promotes secure attachment between moms and their children.
