About Native American Health Center

Native American Health Center (NAHC) in San Francisco offers behavioral health and substance use support to the entire community, regardless of tribal affiliation or ethnicity.

The center provides individual psychotherapy, group treatment and recovery support services for youth ages 10 and over and adults.

Rooted in holistic, culturally responsive care NAHC honors Native beliefs and traditions while welcoming everyone who walks through its doors.

Culturally Responsive Recovery

NAHC delivers substance abuse treatment and recovery support within a broader community health setting, providing a general outpatient level of care.

The staff helps clients work through both ongoing addictions and underlying trauma in a supportive, community-rooted environment.

Treatment incorporates approaches including cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and EMDR.

Sessions are offered individually or in groups, and the program stays culturally grounded through consultation and training from traditional Native American practitioners and the Indian Health Service.

Integrated Services Under One Roof

Beyond addiction care, the San Francisco site combines behavioral health with medical, dental, community wellness and WIC services.

This integrated model supports coordinated care and same-day medical consultation is also available.
