Tradition One

Tradition One is a nonprofit Drug Medi-Cal accredited residential addiction treatment provider in San Diego, California serving adult men.

They were founded in 1971 and treat alcoholism and other drug addictions using a Twelve Step social model approach and welcome dual diagnosis clients stabilized on medications.

Tradition One offers a tranquil peer led environment where men facing homelessness or criminal justice involvement can focus on lasting recovery.

Residential Recovery for Men in San Diego

Residential treatment is the heart of Tradition One's program, licensed as a Drug Medi-Cal Residential 3.1 and 3.5 facility. Residents commit to a minimum 90-day stay with the option to remain up to 18 months, giving each man time to build a stable foundation.

Services include counseling and case management, relapse prevention, and referrals for psychiatric, medical, and dental care.

Each week residents take part in ten educational groups, six clinical groups, and two Twelve Step meetings. Daily living is built around shared responsibility through house chores, weekly house meetings, and a resident peer council.

Whole-Person Support and Life Skills

Tradition One extends beyond counseling with anger management, conflict resolution, and employment preparation. Residents also access HIV/AIDS, TB, and hepatitis education as well as on-site HIV and Hep-C testing, and domestic violence education.

Community service and volunteering are woven into the recovery experience.
