North Star Palmer – Summit Program

North Star Palmer Residential Treatment Center is a residential behavioral health provider offering psychiatric residential treatment for preteen and teen boys ages 11 to 18.

As the Palmer campus of North Star Behavioral Health System, the program blends trauma informed clinical care with recreation, life skills and wilderness influenced experiential programming.

What programs are offered?

The Palmer campus provides residential psychiatric treatment that includes therapy and milieu therapy, activity and recreation therapy, medication management and medical care.

Evidence based approaches include CBT and DBT, trauma focused CBT, solution focused therapy and aggression replacement training, along with adventure based and sensory integration modalities.

Who can get help here?

This is a male only residential program serving preteen and teen boys ages 11 to 18 whose psychiatric or mental health conditions have created major life challenges.

The program offers co-occurring disorders support, though if addiction is the primary concern, a referral to an outside drug rehab facility may be needed.

North Star Palmer is located at 3647 North Clark Wolverine Road in Palmer, Alaska part of a broader network serving the Anchorage area and surrounding Alaska communities.

The campus features recreation halls, a music room, biking and comfortable living spaces.

The program accepts Medicaid, private insurance and self pay, with financial assistance available for those who qualify.
