About King’s Dream Center
King’s Dream Center, formerly Alaska Dream Center, is a faith-based rehabilitation and residential solution for people facing substance use disorders (SUDs) in Wasilla, Alaska. This is a residential program designed to help people overcome addiction and relearn how to navigate the world while minimizing the risk of relapse. There are gender specific programs designed to meet the unique needs of men and women.
Long-Term Treatment Program
One key feature to remember about King’s Dream Center is that this is a long-term program designed to help you rework your mental pathways and resist the urges of addiction. Specifically, participation requires a nine month commitment which is centered around reaffirming your faith during the discipleship program. However, you have the option to participate in an additional three-month supplemental course which prioritizes learning life skills.
This is important as it helps you become fully self sufficient and effectively maintain your independence once you complete the program. The nine month program includes counseling, faith based curriculum, group studies and even work therapy to help retrain your brain. Overall, the goal is to get you back to your regular life but with the necessary tools and skill sets required to effectively navigate real life situations.
An Abstinence-Based Solution
They offer gender-based residential programs for people struggling with addiction. The men’s program is designed for people ages 18 to 59 and requires applying for admission.
The women’s program is referred to as Transformations Lighthouse and has a few requirements for participants. This includes adhering to residential requirements and responsibilities, regular church attendance, faith-based study participation and regular attendance at skills groups, training and other program meetings. Participants must also seek and maintain employment.
