About NARA Residential Treatment Center
The NARA Residential Treatment Center (Native American Rehabilitation Association of the Northwest, Inc.) is a federally qualified health center that is American Indian owned and operated. They provide person focused and family centered care to Native Americans and other adults struggling with drug or alcohol abuse disorders.
You’ll work toward recovery with a supportive team guiding you through all stages of your addiction recovery journey. They accept both public and private insurance policies, as well as tribal benefits. In some cases, grants may also help cover treatment costs.
Healing Through Family Focused Treatment
There’s a deep rooted philosophy that family support is the backbone of a successful journey to sobriety. For this reason, you’ll have access to individual, group, and family sessions focused on repairing strained relationships and ensuring you have a strong support network.
Many adults in recovery also find lasting support in peers who, over time, become trusted members of their extended family network. Clients are able to bring children up to age five to stay with them during treatment.
Culturally Competent Care
Traditional Native American practices are woven into recovery programs, including sacred ceremonies with tribal pipes and drums. Fellowship and spiritually centered sessions are also key components of treatment.
This culturally grounded approach ensures clients feel understood and supported in their recovery. To date, NARA serves 5,000 adults annually, representing members of over 255 tribes.
The treatment center is less than a half hour away from the center of Portland. When clients are able to have time outside of the facility, they can enjoy a nice view of the city at Washington Park or check out the Lan Su Chinese Garden.
