About Wellmore Home Based Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Services
Wellmore Behavioral Health is a nonprofit child and adolescent behavioral health and addiction services provider in Waterbury, Connecticut that operates outpatient or home based as well as crisis programs from its Child Service Building.
Its child program offers therapy and psychiatric evaluation. Other services include medication management and intensive in-home psychiatric services with behavioral health treatment for issues such as substance use and peer conflict.
This location provides a unique walk-in youth crisis center.
Walk-In and Mobile Crisis Care
Wellmore's Urgent Crisis Center is housed in the same building as its outpatient clinic and accepts youth in behavioral health crises with no appointment needed. Families are met in the lobby.
From there the patient is triaged by a UCC nurse and brought to the third floor for assessment and stabilization. Wellmore also runs Mobile Crisis Intervention Services. This responds to children ages three to 17 or 18 if they are still in school in the community.
The outpatient clinic removes the usual intake wait. First time appointments are available the same day with open access walk-in hours Monday and Tuesday, and Thursday and Friday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. A child can move from crisis stabilization to outpatient therapy.
This is more considerable for a child as they would be at the same address instead of a new start with a new provider after an emergency visit.
Therapy for Violence and Abuse
The Victim of Crime Assistance Program (VOCA) is a specialized track. This is for children affected by physical or sexual abuse as well as those who have experienced domestic violence or homicide of a family member.
The program pairs trauma therapy with family assistance. This assistance provides access to community services and financial victim compensation which most counseling programs leave families to navigate alone.
