About U Turn For Christ
U Turn for Christ in Camino, California, offered a Christian discipleship re-entry program for adult men and women. Persons suffering from addiction could live on the Christian discipleship ranch and use Godly ethics and disciplines to overcome the deception of alcohol and/or drug abuse. They have since closed.
Residents were taught the word of God and Christian living skills. They completed volunteer work in the community and became more independent, self supporting, and received stability through Jesus Christ. Family, church friends, employers, schools, and society would see these transformed addicts as an asset.
Phases of Substance Use Treatment
The program sustained itself through its thrift store and donations. The first phase for a resident was called a blackout period. The resident was cut off from the external world with no phone calls. The resident studied the Bible and completed chores and community service.
The second phase required the residents to find work and pay for their own living expenses. They were required to attend church and study the Bible. After six months, the resident could commit for another six months or reenter the community.
