About Adult and Teen Challenge Rhode Island
There is a peaceful corner of Taunton, Massachusetts where 5.5 acres of peaceful land surround the Southern New England Women’s Home. This isn't just a regular treatment facility; it's a welcoming haven, a faith based residential program designed to embrace women facing the tough realities of addiction and related life struggles.
Under the care of Adult and Teen Challenge New England and New Jersey, it offers something more profound than mere treatment – it’s a sanctuary where lives can be gently pieced back together with time, practical tools and the strength of community. Within its nearly 8,000 square feet, a calm and structured rhythm encourages deep healing through spiritual growth, the learning of essential life skills and a journey of personal transformation.
A Heartfelt, Faith-Centered Embrace
The program unfolds over a significant period of typically 10 to 12 months and is rooted deeply in Christian values. Daily spiritual practices like Bible study and prayer form a core but the support extends far beyond. The facility provides clinical counseling in recovery, life skills, educational support and vocational training in areas like cooking, skills of office administration and even gardening.
They also have special programs for women who have survived sex trafficking which is a unique resource that sets this organization apart from many other recovery centers. This approach helps women explore and heal the underlying wounds of their addiction while equipping them with the practical skills needed for a new and independent future.
A Space for Comfort, Connection and Growth in Everyday Skills
The facility is known for its comfortable living spaces, peaceful surroundings and the strong sense of belonging in the community. Residents are provided nourishing meals, regular opportunities for exercise, recreation and the constant presence of caring staff.
Shared responsibilities and a predictable daily structure help to cultivate a sense of purpose and deep connection among the women. Transportation is also provided for necessary trips off-site.
This location is led by Shondi Fabiano who was a former resident who now serves as the director. With this SMART, Christ centered approach and dedicated support for women in recovery, the Southern New England Women's Home offers a unique and nurturing environment for healing and the development of essential life skills.
