About Shields for Families
SHIELDS for Families is a South Los Angeles based nonprofit and substance use treatment provider in California.
The organization offers regular and intensive outpatient addiction services, co-occurring disorder care, and aftercare support within a broader family centered continuum that also addresses mental health and child welfare as well as housing and vocational needs.
What addiction treatment programs are available?
SHIELDS for Families provides outpatient substance use disorder treatment with intensive outpatient services available through the Genesis program for parenting women.
Treatment typically includes counseling and relapse-prevention planning, addiction education, parenting classes, and case management. Dual diagnosis care is offered for adolescents through the Revelation program.
Who can get help here?
Services are available to clients and parents age 12 and older. Specialized tracks include Genesis for adult parenting women with children ages up to 18 (offered in English and Spanish), ARK for justice-involved adults connected to Drug Court, DCFS and AB 109 re-entry, probation, or parole.
The Revelation program is offered to adolescents ages 12 to 20 with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders.
