About Key Recovery and Life Skills Center
Key Recovery and Life Skills Center is a residential substance use disorder treatment facility in Seattle, Washington providing trauma informed care for adults 21 and older. The program integrates evidence based individual and group therapy, 12 step community support and life skills training to address the whole person in recovery.
Founded in 1968 as the first residential drug and alcohol treatment center in the Puget Sound region, Key Recovery offers a judgment free and inclusive environment that welcomes all individuals regardless of background or identity.
Residential Care
Key Recovery specializes in comprehensive residential treatment for substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health challenges. The program provides 24 hour supervision and support in a structured residential setting, with credentialed mental health and SUD professionals delivering trauma informed and strength based care.
Treatment includes individual and group counseling, daily 12 step meetings and community support seminars that help participants uncover and address trauma cycles while building sustainable coping skills. The center welcomes medication assisted treatment and offers a step down continuum from long term residential care to a Recovery House with transitional support and individualized After Care planning.
Life Skills Development
Beyond clinical treatment, Key Recovery equips participants with practical skills for long term stability and employment readiness. On the job work training includes culinary/food handling and maintenance, welding and forklift operations through partnerships like Seadrunar Recycling, while life skills programming covers financial counseling, digital literacy and household management.
Getting Started
The center serves King and Clallam, Mason and Thurston, Jefferson and Kitsap counties through its in person residential program in Seattle with transportation assistance available for client appointments. Key Recovery is the first residential addiction treatment center in the Puget Sound region, bringing over 50 years of expertise to whole person recovery.
The program accepts Medicaid, WA Apple Health and private pay with admissions support available to help with health plan authorization or Medicaid applications.
