About Medmark Treatment Centers Five Points

Formerly run by the Recovery Services of New Mexico, Medmark Treatment Centers (MTC) Five Points is a clinic in Albuquerque, New Mexico offering treatments and programs for individuals dealing with substance addictions. They primarily focus on providing people addicted to opiates with a path to recovery. All of their services are offered at the outpatient level of care, and they do accept patients on Medicaid and Medicare.

Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid Addiction

Recovering from addiction to opiates can be particularly challenging in the beginning, and MTC wants to help make the treatment experience as comfortable as possible for their patients. To this end, they offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) which involves the prescription of FDA approved medications that assist recovery. These medications limit the effect of withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings, depending on which medication they prescribe.

MAT also involves regular check ins and counseling to monitor each patient’s progress. At Five Points, they offer counseling to help individuals confront and overcome addictive behaviors and to help them build life skills and healthier coping techniques. Throughout the process, they aim to gradually decrease the patient’s prescribed dose until they are fully medication free.

Compassionate Individual and Group Counselling

At Five Points, patients get regular individual and group counseling sessions, and MTC uses each type of counseling to achieve certain goals. In individual counseling, they provide each patient with a safe space in which to share about and deal with their past traumas and inner lives. These sessions allow a patient to dig deeper and root their identity in something besides their addiction or past behaviors.

In the group sessions, patients get to let go of guilt and shame as they learn more about each other’s struggles. Through mutual coaching and friendship, the patients’ community becomes a place of heightened accountability and motivation.
