About Omaha Treatment Center
Omaha Treatment Center is a Nebraska clinic that treats opioid use disorder. This Omaha location is their BAART Programs Omaha West clinic.
The clinic has methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone for opioid addiction. They pair them with counseling and personalized care plans that they review every 90 days so they can adjust them as you go.
Virtual Reality Group Counseling
The center has group counseling sessions through Amelia Virtual Care as part of its outpatient programming. I found this to be a particularly unique virtual reality version of group counseling.
The sessions are included with more conventional approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma informed counseling, so the virtual reality is an addition but not a replacement.
This can be especially helpful if you find traditional group settings intimidating, if you have social anxiety or if you tend to disengage in group therapy.
Removing Barriers to Consistent Care
They offer guest dosing here so patients who are already prescribed methadone elsewhere can continue dosing while they’re traveling to Omaha or transferring their care.
I also think it’s unique that they have transportation services for Medicaid patients. The clinic is located right off Interstate 80 and it’s just minutes from downtown Omaha.
They also have treatment here for people who have circumstances that complicate their treatment. For example, they have coordinated care for pregnant and postpartum clients.
They also work with clients who are transitioning out of incarceration or are under court supervision.
These are two groups where interrupting MAT can be especially dangerous and the clinic keeps treatment moving forward to prevent any gaps in care.

Levels of care
- Detox
- People finishing detox need a clear next step, since this stage alone does not treat a substance use disorder. Moving into ongoing treatment right after continues the work that withdrawal management began.
- Inpatient / residential
- Once the stay starts to wind down, thoughts turn to life beyond inpatient structure. In Nebraska, care ends with a planned step down to outpatient support and follow-up.
- Outpatient
- People in Nebraska stepping down from residential care often turn to outpatient sessions. The work goes on at a lighter pace while daily life continues at home.
