His Way

His Way is a Christ centered residential addiction recovery program for men in Huntsville, Alabama that blends Biblical teaching with counseling and moral reconation therapy. Life skills classes and professional development are spread across a nine month stay.

Their structure is built around actual employment where residents work full time jobs with transportation provided before they graduate the program.

Recovery Built Around Full Time Employment

His Way's nine month residential program is organized in stages. Each resident holds a full time job while they continue recovery work and hold leadership responsibilities by the Third Stage which is months three through nine.

The Second Stage is preparation. Staff and volunteers help residents build resumes and submit applications and get hired through a network of business partners while they provide daily transportation to and from the workplace along with regular drug testing.

This is important for the program's core population. Men whose legal histories or lack of marketable skills make employment difficult on their own. The program offers further support than a discharge referral.

The stated benchmark is that a resident graduates with a good job and money in the bank with a long term recovery plan and aftercare adds at least three months of supervised independent living in a graduate's own rented home.

Support Through Resident Run Thrift Stores

His Way does not accept insurance. It is designed to be low cost with an $800 entry fee and $250 per week after the first 60 days which can often be covered by the employment residents secure while in treatment.

The organization also operates The Saving Way thrift stores. The stores employ residents and generate funds for the mission which ties the financial model directly into their work based philosophy.
