Freedom House

Residential rehab at Freedom House runs 9 to 12 months, allowing mothers to have their young children living on site.

The addiction treatment center in Greensboro is a Christ-centered nonprofit that has worked with mothers since 2006.

Women may arrive from High Point, Winston-Salem and Charlotte, and from across North Carolina, with some traveling from other states.

Long-Term Rehab for Mothers

The house accepts women 21 to 50, and you can keep your children with you as long as they're 10 or under, removing the need for childcare for an entire year.

Each resident receives a plan of her own that includes group and individual therapy and recovery classes, and the curriculum mixes the 12 steps with parenting, money, and relationships.

Residents also pick up work experience at the program's thrift stores or on the farm. Freedom House doesn't provide medical detox but they may refer you for those services when needed.

After the residential program, each mother receives another year of housing rent-free, with support continuing.

There's a one-time admission fee, and after that, no monthly tuition and no insurance billing.

The house sits on 110 acres of farmland in Greensboro, and there's room for your children to be outside enjoying the fresh air and serene spaces.
