About Families First North Meridian Street
Families First Center is a substance use treatment provider offering family-focused addiction care as part of the Firefly Children and Family Alliance network.
The center provides outpatient and intensive outpatient programs that address substance use disorders, trauma and underlying causes while helping participants repair important relationships.
Its family-centered approach sets it apart from traditional standalone rehab programs.
Assessing Goals and Needs
Treatment begins with an assessment covering substance use, physical health, mental health and social health.
Clients can then enter a 12-week outpatient program that meets two hours once weekly, or an intensive outpatient program that meets three hours a day, three days a week for eight weeks.
This phase is followed by weekly sessions. Treatment methods include cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention and trauma-related counseling.
Co-occurring Disorder Care
Families First Center serves young adults and adults, including men and women.
Programming supports people with co-occurring disorders, those who have experienced trauma, individuals involved with the court system and clients needing domestic violence-related services.
Outpatient and telehealth options are available making care more accessible for those balancing work, family or other responsibilities.

Levels of care
- Outpatient
- Between sessions, people try out new coping skills in real settings like home, work, and social plans. That practice turns ideas from counseling into habits.
- Co-occurring disorders
- When a person in Indiana faces both a substance use disorder and a mental health issue, each can fuel the other. Care treats them together so neither one grows while the other is handled.
