About Denver CARES
Denver CARES is a Denver Health program offering 24/7 withdrawal management and transitional residential treatment for adults with substance use disorders in Denver, Colorado. The facility treats all substance use disorders alongside relapse prevention. Denver CARES emphasizes safe, humane withdrawal experiences paired with clinical assessment, motivational counseling and referrals to support every step of recovery.
Withdrawal Management and Stabilization
The facility operates a 100-bed, non-medical withdrawal management service staffed by registered nurses, behavioral health technicians, addiction counselors and licensed mental health clinicians. The program provides around-the-clock triage, vitals monitoring, meals, sleeping accommodations and medication-assisted treatment when applicable to ease withdrawal symptoms.
Clients can self-refer or arrive via courts, law enforcement, healthcare providers or Denver's Emergency Service Patrol, which transports intoxicated individuals directly to the facility as a low-barrier public health intervention. Treatment focuses on stabilization, harm reduction education and individualized planning to connect clients with next-level care and community resources.
Transitional Residential Treatment
The center includes transitional residential programming lasting 45 to 90 days in separate men's and women's housing units. Clients participate in structured group sessions covering coping skills, grief and loss, anger management, smoking cessation and yoga, plus weekly individual counseling.
Case coordinators provide practical support for employment, housing, and long-term recovery goals. Denver CARES serves clients with 24/7 admissions and multiple referral pathways. The program has no payor restrictions, accepts Medicare and self-pay, and offers financial assistance.
