About Wenholz House
Wenholz House is a sober living and transitional recovery residence in Corpus Christi, Texas. They have separate Men's and Women's Houses for adults who are in early recovery from addiction.
As a resident, you’ll get structured housing, support from a live in staff, drug testing, 12 step meeting access and help with aftercare, employment and family reunification.
Here you'll have state approved housing for people leaving the Texas criminal justice system. It’s a donation funded cost model so it’s more financially accessible than most.
Help After Incarceration in Texas
Wenholz House is an approved Alternate Housing Resource for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Corpus Christi. This means you can transition here after jail or prison.
Many sober living homes don't have this designation.
For someone who’s being released from custody and who doesn’t have a stable home to return to, this means the residence is a recognized placement resource.
They don’t only serve people who have been incarcerated, though. Most residents here arrive from families, hospitals, detox and treatment facilities. but some come directly off the streets.
They have live-in staff members who guide you toward aftercare, employment and reconnection with family. You'll have support throughout the entire recovery process and afterward.
For justice-involved people in Corpus Christi trying to avoid the cycle of release into homelessness, this addresses the gap where your relapse risk is highest.
Low Treatment Barrier
Wenholz House isn’t a program that bills insurance companies. It's funded through churches, private donors, foundations and Coastal Bend Day of Giving gifts.
This keeps the barrier to entry far below private recovery housing, which many people leaving incarceration can't afford. Some people pay a modest weekly rent if they can.
Since they're able to help about 60 adults at a time, the program makes long term structured sobriety realistic for people without savings or healthcare coverage.
