Unique Addiction Treatment for Adolescents
The teen experience can be rough, and many teens turn to drugs or alcohol due to peer pressure or to self medicate. For some teens, this leads to addiction. It’s important to intervene before the problem progresses. The intensive outpatient treatment program (IOP) offers convenient programs that balance treatment and school.
Adolescents can attend school while receiving after school treatment Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, leaving families time to enjoy Friday evenings and weekends together. The program is eight weeks and addresses both substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. After an in depth assessment and diagnosis, a treatment plan is developed, tailored to the client’s needs.
If clients need additional neurological or neuropsychological testing, they may be referred to another provider to further identify and clarify the diagnosis and develop a treatment plan. The teens keep dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) diary cards to help them track and rate their utilization of DBT and emotional responses. They improve their communication skills and learn to positively change their responses to stressful stimuli.
Proprietary Addiction Treatment Models
The outpatient treatment program for adults 18 and over uses proprietary treatment models, including the EMPWR program. EMPWR uses objective measures to assess an individual client’s progress in recovering from addiction.
The model works to optimize treatment across a range of criteria. These include emotional, mental, and physical health, as well as a client’s work ethic and relational health.
Westport Village is well known for its cultural activities. The Westport Country Playhouse, Sherwood Island State Park, the library, and the farmer’s market are all convenient to the treatment center.
