The Ranch Frederick

The Ranch is a nonprofit residential addiction recovery program for adult men on a 204-acre farm in Frederick, Maryland.

This Joint Commission accredited space provides men individual, group and family counseling, relapse prevention, trauma related counseling and medication assisted treatment within a six-month stay.

Inside The Ranch's Six-Month Program

The Ranch in Frederick is a clinically managed residential program rather than a rehab or sober living home.

Each client must attend a minimum of five mutual aid groups, five hours of life skills classes, four psychoeducational groups and one counseling session every week, across a six-month stay.

The program targets men caught in the cycle of detox, rehab and relapse, and it aims at rebuilding support systems, families and careers.

Residents work on life skills with using the computer lab for resumes, job searches and online GED classes, sharing bedrooms with up to three men per room and eating three daily meals.

Youth Ranch for Men's Recovery Campus

The Ranch began in 1974 as a youth ranch sponsored by the Maryland Sheriff's Association.

It was converted to adult men's addiction recovery in 2015, which explains the unusual 204-acre farmland setting for a program at this level of care.

The facility positions itself against typical halfway houses by combining practical skills-building with certified clinical counseling, organized around SAMHSA's 8 Dimensions of Wellness.

The Ranch serves men 18 and older from the Frederick County region, including those traveling from the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. areas.

The space bills Maryland Medicaid with private insurance, self pay and sliding scale options.
