About Northeast Human Service Center
Northeast Human Service Center (NHSC) is a local government initiative to provide behavioral health services and access to resources in Grand Forks, North Dakota. It is one of eight regional human service centers that is operated by the North Dakota Health and Human Services department. This particular location provides access to care for people located in region IV which includes Grand Forks, Nelson, Pembina, and Walsh counties.
Round the Clock Access to Help
One of the key features of NHSC is that it provides 24 hour access to behavioral health crisis services. This can include substance use disorder (SUD) treatment for people who are in crisis. Although this location is only open during the week, the center accepts walk ins and prioritizes people with acute symptoms.
Additionally, NHSC works in partnership with other behavioral health service providers and may refer you to those facilities if your condition is determined to be more severe.
On Site Addiction Counseling
If you’re seeking outpatient support to continue your recovery treatment, NHSC provides onsite counselors and therapists who can either directly provide care or direct you to support elsewhere. Alternatively, they can also connect you to external resources if you need more intensive addiction treatment or other resources.
A Community Bridge
Similar to many state run behavioral health programs, NHSC is designed to help connect residents with a host of resources. Along with actual behavioral health services, this can also include programs that would fall into an aftercare or continuing care category. For example some people may need help finding sober living, or assistance with building job skills and finding gainful employment.
NHSC can help you with that. Additionally, as a state run program, no one is turned away because of inability to pay. The facility manages a sliding fee scale based on your current demonstrated need and household income.
