Specialized Services at Topeka
Services at the Topeka facility are available to adults. Outpatient care is available virtually via telehealth for clients with transportation issues or who are unable to come to the facility. Treatment is provided for clients who have substance abuse disorder and co-occurring mental health disorders.
Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is available for opioid and alcohol use disorders. Medication is used to reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings. The facility prescribes buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and naloxone.
Treatment Levels for Substance Use Disorder
Residential treatment may be the treatment chosen based on an assessment of the client’s substance use and mental health. Intensive outpatient programming (IOP) would follow residential or could be the starting program for clients not requiring residential treatment. The program offers individual and group therapy 9-15 hours three or more times per week.
Outpatient treatment is the least intensive form of treatment where a client attends individual and group therapy on a regular basis. Aftercare is available to clients who’ve completed a treatment program with counseling to help aid a client in proceeding with everyday life while
maintaining sobriety.
Peer mentoring and person-centered case management is conducted by staff members who are in long term recovery and have been trained to support clients after recovery. Staff helps the client develop skills to live a recovery lifestyle. They also connect you to community resources such as obtaining housing, continuing education, mental health services, acquiring vocational skills, physical health services, and community support groups.
