About Hillcrest Children and Family Center
Hillcrest Children and Family Center has programs and therapy options for all ages. Created as a private non-profit by First Lady Dolley Madison, they have been providing services, regardless of ability to pay to individuals and families in Washington, D.C. for more than 200 years. More than 60,000 individuals access Hillcrest services each and every year.
Adult Substance Abuse Treatment
There are treatment and recovery support programs for adults who are struggling with addiction to everything from alcohol and prescription meds to drugs such as cocaine or heroin.
Mental health support is available for those who are struggling with the stresses of life or may be coping with the often-lonely battle of mental illness.
There are specific programs for older adults as well. The issues we face as we age change and this program recognizes that.
Support for Children, Too
Children may be the future but they need help coping with the now and Hillcrest has school, community, and clinic programs to help them. There are intensive outpatient programs for children and youth as well as individual, family, and group therapy.
Youth can get counselling to help them deal with stress or to regulate emotions like anger and anxiety. If you find that your child’s behavior and mood have drastically changed, there are psychiatric evaluations and assessments available to help you figure out what is going on and how to support them.
Community Resources and Continued Care
Hillcrest doesn’t just treat and release with no support. They help set up continued care management and community resources to help individuals be successful in their community and life. Help with education, employment, and housing issues are available.
Always a Phone or Video Call Away
Any client who has access to a phone or computer will be invited to access their services through telehealth. This means you can manage appointments, talk to service providers, and attend groups and individual therapy from anywhere.
No one will be denied services because of financial inability to pay. There are sliding scale fees and financial assistance is available.
