About Heartland Family Service
Heartland Family Service on South 42nd Street in Omaha, Nebraska is the main outpatient treatment center and administration office for the organization which helps more than 70 000 individuals each year. This location provides outpatient mental health and addiction treatment to all ages from infant to 18 years of age in their child and youth department and in their adult department for those individuals over 18 years of age.
There are medical and mental health staff on site at all times and they have close to 50 different programs within their three main areas of concentration: safety and financial stability, counseling and prevention, and child and family wellbeing and housing.
Collaborating with Community Organizations
Heartland can’t provide all these services on their own and luckily, they don’t have to. They collaborate with health departments, housing authorities, local schools and childcare centers, courts and ministries, health care and mental health centers, and BAART MAT programs within Nebraska and Iowa.
There are more than 350 staff and 200 volunteers who facilitate the programs to help at-risk youth, children, men, women, and the elderly. Families can also get support here. When one person in a family is sick, everyone is affected.
Free Help for Mental Health and Addiction
The majority of families who access services at Heartland are struggling financially with more than 80% of them reporting an annual income of less than $25,000. For this reason, with the help of helpful and caring investors and selfless donations, all services are provided at little or no cost to the patient.
Crisis Stabilization Services
Heartland Family Service is there during a short-term crisis and for the long haul. There are mental health crisis teams, crisis stabilization community and residential services, emergency shelters, therapy programs, medication assisted treatment, family support and Family Works programs.
Residential, day and intensive outpatient treatment programs are available for both the young and the old, and everyone in between. There are addiction and substance abuse treatment programs as well as gambling and substance abuse therapy programs for youth and adults.
