About Harbor House Chemical Dependency Services

Harbor House is a residential facility that provides detox and therapeutic services for people struggling with substance use disorders (SUDs) in Jackson, Mississippi. It has a total of 70 beds with separate units for men, women, and veterans. Along with detox, participants can receive assistance with aftercare and access to peer support services.

Medication Assisted Treatment

One of Harbor House’s most critical programs is the detox treatment. If your assessment shows that your addiction can put you at risk of medical complications, your case manager will recommend that you participate in medication assisted treatment (MAT) to help you safely shift into sobriety. In some cases, you might be referred to another facility for detox if your addiction is determined to be too severe to be managed at Harbor House.

Dual Diagnosis Support

Along with helping you get sober, Harbor House wants to ensure that all of you is being considered. This includes dual diagnosis support which can include managing other mental health or physical conditions that need to be addressed to help better manage your addiction.

Comprehensive Counseling

Getting sober is just one step in the recovery process. This includes access to counseling services which can include group and individual sessions. Likewise, you can also participate in CBT and DBT, along with trauma informed treatment.

Select counseling services are provided through a partnership with the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Recovery Support

Getting sober is a major achievement but it’s genuinely just the beginning of your journey. Recovery support is designed to help you stick with your sobriety and build a tool set to reduce the chances of relapse. This can include peer support groups like 12 step, or even help securing housing, work, or family reunification.

All of this falls under Recovery Support Services (RSS) which is a required participation for people in the Harbor House program. While Harbor House doesn’t accept insurance of any kind, you can request itemized statements for reimbursement.

Levels of care

Detox
Days of withdrawal management can stretch longer or shorter depending on the substance and on the person going through it.
Inpatient / residential
People ready to focus on recovery for a while often start with inpatient care. The time it takes varies, since each program and each person sets a different pace.
Aftercare support
When check-ins continue for months, a person has regular chances to talk through both progress and hard days. That steady contact can be a comfort in early recovery.
Sober living
Anyone comparing homes should expect real differences, since standards shift from one house to the next. Asking clear questions before move-in helps, and that is true for homes in Mississippi.
