Recovery with Home-Cooked Meals
At the core of Freedom Centers Treatment is their medically supervised detox program which offers 24/7 medical supervision for safe withdrawals from alcohol, benzodiazepines, methamphetamines and other controlled substances. Residential treatment after detox includes scheduled therapy and group counseling, addiction education classes and life skills courses. These programs work together with medication assisted treatment (if needed) which provides safe medications to help with cravings.
Residential programs include private rooms and 15 double occupancy rooms with televisions. Residents have access to lounge areas for movies and games, outdoor walking paths and daily meals made by professional chefs.
Unique Therapies and Aftercare
One unique treatment offered at Freedom Center is their equine therapy program. Clients work with horses by riding, grooming and feeding which promotes immediate feedback on emotions and fosters responsibility.
Clients also receive discharge planning before their treatment ends. This advises clients on the next steps in recovery. It includes resources for extended residential care, a 24/7 crisis hotline to prevent relapse and specialized therapy options.

Levels of care
- Detox
- When the body has grown used to alcohol or sedatives, stopping can bring dangerous reactions without support. Watching symptoms closely during those days is what keeps a person safe.
- Inpatient / residential
- Inpatient care creates real distance from the stress and triggers of everyday life. With that space in place, a person can give full attention to recovery.
- Aftercare support
- Having family involved can mean joint sessions, shared goals at home, and steady encouragement through the ups and downs of early recovery.
- Co-occurring disorders
- Someone with a substance use disorder and a mental health condition may have medication management as part of care in North Carolina.
