About The Gastonia’s Potter’s House
The Gastonia's Potter's House is a nonprofit, faith based provider of long term residential addiction treatment in Gastonia, North Carolina, serving adult women struggling with substance abuse, alcoholism and other life threatening issues. While the ministry connects clients with detox centers and community partners when needed, its central focus is an 18 month Christ centered residential program designed to support deep, lasting transformation.
Founded in 1996, the program helps women build a strong foundation for sobriety through discipleship, counseling and structured restoration.
Long Term Residential Recovery For Women at The Gastonia's Potter's House
This women only residential program spans 18 months across 2 distinct 9 month phases, welcoming adults 18 years and older from all walks of life, including those referred by courts, prisons, probation offices, hospitals and DSS. Set on 10 peaceful acres, the nonmedical facility provides a structured, distraction free environment where women can focus fully on recovery and spiritual growth.
The first phase emphasizes individual counseling, group therapy, substance abuse education, church services, parenting classes and volunteering. The second phase transitions women into employment or higher education while building budgeting skills, responsibility and work ethic. Client testimonies frequently describe supportive staff, life change and being welcomed with open arms.
Your Journey Through the Program
The program begins with application and intake, including a required drug screening upon entry. If medically needed, clients may be referred to an outside detox center before admission. Phase 1 includes residential immersion with counseling, Bible based teaching and parenting classes. Phase 2 focuses on reintegration through employment, education and life skills. After program completion, clients may receive ongoing community and family restoration support.
Additional Support and Payment Options
Beyond core residential care, the ministry offers family counseling, parenting classes, vocational and educational reentry support and coordination with local courts, hospitals and social services. This holistic approach addresses recovery, family healing and life rebuilding together.
The program does not accept insurance and requests an entry donation and a monthly donation per client. However, no one is turned away for inability to pay and scholarships or church sponsorships may be available.
