About Fred Brown Recovery Services
Fred Brown Recovery Services in San Pedro, California, is a nonprofit alcohol and drug residential treatment center that provides a strong foundation for recovery from the darkness into the light.
Some Logistics About Them
The center is licensed by the state Department of Health Care Services and is regulated by LA County's Department of Public Health Substance Abuse Prevention and Control. They’re CARF accredited.
Yearly fundraiser events are held such as comedy shows. Their merchandise store sells shirts, mugs, caps, beanies, tote bags, and jackets. They also accept monetary donations.
The center is Medi-Cal certified and is in network with CIGNA, Beacon, Bluecross, Anthem, HealthNet, and LA Care. They accept most major PPO insurances.
Residential treatment consists of small groups in a homey environment. You will complete four phases of treatment. The treatments typically extend over 90 days.
Moving Through Substance Use Treatment Phases
The first phase consists of an assessment to evaluate your level of dependency and detox if needed. Your treatment plan is constructed, and you will begin group discussion therapy sessions.
The second phase introduces family involvement and educational treatments. You’ll partake in various recreational therapy, 12-step meetings, and group education.
In phase three, you’ll begin to practice learned behaviors from your previous educational classes. You will assume some leadership in the treatment center and work on an aftercare recovery plan.
Phase four is the aftercare phase. You have the option of living in a sober transitional home or of returning home. They’ll encourage you to attend community 12-step meetings, weekly relapse prevention meetings, anger management workshops, and alumni meetings.
