About Faith Home Christian Recovery
Located in Greenwood, South Carolina, Faith Home has been around since 1966 and offers something pretty rare—an eight week, totally free residential recovery program that's rooted in Christian values and the 12 step model.
They have separate facilities for men and women, and even though it's not a medical detox or clinical facility, it still manages to provide some seriously transformative support for people trying to recover from addiction. They've helped tens of thousands of people over the years, which says a lot about their commitment and impact.
Structured Support in a Homelike Environment
What I like most is that this place isn’t about white walls and hospital beds. It’s more like a community that’s built on faith and support. You’ll take part in daily devotions, Bible study, and worship services and also go to AA or NA meetings. Their approach is very spiritually grounded but it doesn’t feel pushy. They make space for you to connect in your own way.
Incorporating Nontraditional Therapies and Activities
They also have a work therapy setup, so while you’re staying there you’ll help out with things like kitchen duties, maintenance, or working in their thrift stores. It’s part of how they build a strong sense of accountability and teamwork. They even have physical activities like weight training, hiking, basketball and fishing to help you stay healthy.
Another cool thing is that they have a choir that residents can join which goes out into the community performing at churches and nursing homes. It’s a powerful way to express yourself and share what recovery has done for you. And once the program is over, they partner with transitional living programs like GoForth Recovery and The Lighthouse so if you need more support after those eight weeks, you have access to those.
It’s a simple setup but it’s built on care, faith, and real connection, which can go a long way in recovery.
