Treatment for Substance Use and Co-occurring Disorders
The Behavioral Health Clinic treats alcohol, heroin, and illicit drug use. Treatments offered include Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP) and Transitional Outpatient Programming (TOP).
Patient Assessment Services determine the program a client needs. The assessment office is open on a 24/7 basis.
Treatment consists of therapy, medication management, and 12 step groups. Therapy is offered for family and loved ones who have been affected by substance use.
After a client has completed residential treatment or IOP they are transitioned to TOP. The program is short term, offering a less intensive program for extra help, support, and any treatment needed. TOP offers individual counseling, medication evaluation, and medication management.
After a client completes TOP a case manager will make a referral for long term outpatient services. The manager can also help a client apply for state and federal benefits, apply for subsidized housing, find a primary care doctor, connect with community resources, and connect with support services such as AA and NA.
Recovery Stabilization Program for Opioid Use
Patients suffering from opioid addiction will be referred to the outpatient clinic in South Kingstown or the behavioral health center on Butler Drive. The Recovery Stabilization Program uses medications that control withdrawals and cravings.
Programs for Teens with Substance Use Disorder
Teens are offered inpatient services and a partial hospitalization program. Clients ages 13 to 17 are accepted and must be diagnosed with depression, anxiety, addiction, or other mental health disorders. Enrollment is open 24 hours seven days per week and does not require a referral. Teens diagnosed with substance use disorder or self harm concerns require inpatient treatment while partial hospitalization is offered for mental health issues.
Butler Hospital is an ideal location for treatment with emergency, primary care services, and behavioral health in the same area.
