About ARCH Halfway House
Since 1972, The ARCH in Omaha, Nebraska, has helped men struggling with substance use disorders (SUDs) by providing transitional housing and addiction treatment services. They have two facilities, both located in midtown Omaha. This one, fondly referred to as The Big House, has 18 beds.
Support from Professionals Who Understand
Their mission is to give men the tools they need not just to stay sober, but to build a life they can be proud of. That support comes from licensed addiction professionals and direct care team members who are available 24/7. Everyone is trained to keep the environment safe and the residents focused on recovery.
Besides the many licensed counselors and support staff, several partners help with this mission, including the Nebraska Association of Behavioral Health Organizations (NABHO). CARF has certified services since 2016, showing that this center meets high standards for quality and accountability.
How They Help You Heal
Therapy isn’t about fixing someone overnight. It’s about figuring out what hasn’t worked, then trying something different. Staff use methods like dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and motivational interviewing to help with that process.
Counselors understand that each person’s history is unique. Some clients have experienced trauma, which often contributes to addiction, so counselors are trained in trauma informed care.
For many, the care doesn’t end after treatment. One client finished their program four years ago, but stays connected because the support is still meaningful.
What Happens After Treatment
After treatment, you can stay connected through aftercare and a strong alumni network. The support continues through group meetings and peer mentorship. They also hold community events and sober recreational activities that help with the shift into daily life.
Many who’ve come through the program say the mix of ongoing support and Omaha’s second-chance job opportunities made it the first place where recovery actually stuck. For men who are ready to work on recovery, the ARCH could be the right option.
