About Sheepgate
Sheepgate is a faith based rehab center in Colfax, Iowa. They have a twelve month residential program for men 18 and older. Many on staff are graduates of the program or have lived with addiction. They're not licensed counselors or therapists.
Men's Training in Colfax
Men spend the first seven months of training on the Colfax campus. The last five months are a reentry phase in Omaha. You leave Iowa before the program ends.
This campus takes men only. Women 19 and older go to a separate women's program.
Sheepgate doesn't offer medical detox. You can't enter the program until you finish detox at a detox center.
Campus on 80 Acres
Sheepgate's men's facility sits on 80 acres in Colfax. The building was once a mineral springs resort hotel. Men use the days for Christ centered discipleship.
About 50 students can live there at a time. You'll get dormitory housing and meals provided. You'll sleep on the grounds instead of going home at night.
Housing and meals don't cost anything during the program. The program runs on contributions, donations and work study. They don't take government funding.

What does daily life in the program look like?
The program is built on a Bible-based curriculum, which means applying scripture to daily life. Days include discipleship and character classes in group sessions, plus mentoring one on one from trained staff. Many staff members have been through the program themselves.
How long is the residential program at Sheepgate?

Applying costs a one-time, non-refundable $20 fee, and a one-time, non-refundable $1,000 entry fee is due on the day of entry. After that, meals, housing and ministry come at no charge. The ministry is funded by donations and work-study programs, with no government funding.
Can you bring prescription medications to Sheepgate?
Yes. Students who take prescription medications are accepted. The medication policies are spelled out in the Men’s Guidelines and Women’s Guidelines forms, which list the details for each program.
