YMCA Counseling Service North Shore Center

YMCA Counseling Service North Shore Center is a state licensed outpatient addiction treatment program on Staten Island, part of the YMCA of Greater New York.

The program supports adults, older teens, children affected by a family member's addiction and families through individual counseling, group counseling and crisis intervention, family therapy and medication assisted treatment.

Drawing on more than 25 years of experience, the North Shore Center tailors care to each client's needs rather than following a single treatment philosophy.

Family Centered Addiction Treatment

The North Shore Center treats substance use as something that affects the whole family, offering counseling not only for individuals but also for children and parents, spouses and other loved ones.

Services begin with an assessment and include drug screenings, family skills training and an on site physician who evaluates and manages addiction medication throughout recovery.

In treatment, clients work through individual and group counseling while addressing underlying issues that fuel substance use.

A community Family Association welcomes parents, guardians and other adult family members, and vocational, legal and criminal justice referrals help connect people with broader support.

Women's Program

A women only program offers group counseling focused on concerns such as domestic violence, family issues and parenting, with childcare provided for participants.

The center also delivers prevention counseling for at risk youth and community education for schools, churches and local organizations.

The North Shore Center is located at 285 Vanderbilt Avenue in Staten Island and offers both virtual and in person services, with a second South Shore location available.

The program participates with a wide range of insurance plans including Medicaid and offers financial assistance so no one is turned away because of an inability to pay.
