About Hot Springs VA Medical Center
Hot Springs VA Medical Center is part of the VA Black Hills Health Care System providing addiction and behavioral health services to Veterans in Hot Springs, South Dakota.
The campus offers substance use care with and medication-based support for Veterans of all eras.
Their goal is to meet Veterans' physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs while building relapse-prevention skills and lasting sobriety.
Residential Treatment for Veterans
The Hot Springs campus delivers an 8-week intensive residential Addiction Dependence Services (ADS) program within its Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program, also known as the Domiciliary.
Veterans willing to actively engage and meet program criteria after a phone screen are eligible for this structured residential level of care.
Treatment blends motivational counseling, behavioral treatment groups, 12-step facilitation and cognitive behavioral therapy for relapse prevention.
Medication-supported options such as buprenorphine and naltrexone may also be incorporated to help with withdrawal symptoms.
Integrated PTSD Care
The program also integrates therapy for substance use disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, an essential combination for Veterans with trauma histories.
Female-specific services and OEF/OIF programming are also available, alongside care for co-occurring conditions.
Hot Springs VA Medical Center provides telehealth services available through the broader behavioral health department.
