About Summit County Public Health Fairway Center
Summit County Public Health is committed to offering drug overdose prevention and education to the Akron, Ohio community. Every Friday they offer a needle exchange program. This weekly drop-in is anonymous and also gives clients access to wound care and HIV/Hep C testing. If they request it, they can get treatment referrals. This program runs out of the Fairway Center. You can also get free Naloxone kits in a vending machine at the Community Health Center. Another program is called Project Dawn. This one is designed to give community members training so they can recognize the different types of overdose and administer life-saving techniques. The programs give a friendly environment and the staff doesn’t judge you. That way, you’ll have options to get back in control.
