About Serenity House Treatment Center

Serenity House Behavioral Health Services in Soldotna, Alaska, is a residential treatment center that prioritizes helping adults overcome substance use disorders. It is part of the Central Peninsula Hospital (CPH) network that provides medical and behavioral health services within the state. Serenity House is a 12-bed facility set in an idyllic location to help create a soothing environment to help you focus on overcoming addiction. CPH and Serenity House accept most major insurance providers including Medicare, Medicaid and VA plans.

Embracing a 12 Step Methodology

There are two treatment centers within the CPH network which include Soldotna and Kenai. Both facilities offer a short term residential program which usually ranges from six to eight weeks. By leveraging the 12 Step methodology participants begin to understand the triggers that lead to addiction, as well as how to unlearn harmful coping mechanisms and how to move forward. Additionally, by participating in this program, you’ll learn how to effectively retrain your mind when facing previous addiction triggers.

A nice feature of Serenity House is that there are Family Day weekly services where family members get to participate in therapy groups. This can be a critical form of support to help people struggling with SUD maintain sobriety.

A Long-Term Treatment Method

Even though the residential program is designed to last for six to eight weeks, there are step down programs you can transition to after completing inpatient care. Serenity House offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) which is designed to last for one to two months. While you’re able to go home every evening, the frequent check-ins allow you to get consistent support to strengthen your sobriety training.

After completing the IOP, there’s a standard outpatient program that provides additional support for another six to eight months. In total, this gives you up to a year of full care and assistance to help you reinforce healthy mechanisms and resist relapse.

Levels of care

Inpatient / residential
Inpatient treatment gives a person distance from the everyday triggers and stress that can make recovery harder at home.
Outpatient
When you choose outpatient care, the week brings scheduled sessions and leaves plenty of time for the rest of daily life.
Aftercare support
Sessions often invite family members to take part, so the people at home understand how to offer steady support. This kind of family involvement works well for anyone building a new routine in Alaska.
Co-occurring disorders
Someone living with a substance use disorder alongside a mental health condition may have medication management as part of care. It is handled alongside therapy so both conditions receive attention at the same time.
