About Pride Institute
The Pride Institute in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, offers therapy programs for the LGBTQ+ community relating to physical, mental and sexual health. They align treatment with the unique needs of the LGBTQ+ individual.
The institute is accredited by CARF and LegitScript certified. They accept most major health insurances with the exception of Medicare and Medicaid. Staff can assist patients in applying for loans specifically for health.
Substances treated include alcohol, cocaine, ecstasy, fentanyl, heroine, opioid, polysubstance and meth. Their Martin Drive location offers residential treatment, while the Hennepin Avenue location offers outpatient services. Treatment is offered for addiction, mental health, substance use with co-occurring mental health disorders, and behavioral health.
Specialized Treatment for LGBTQ+ Clients
For the LGBTQ+ community, substance use commonly co-occurs with depression. Depression occurs because of family issues, the higher than average exposure to homelessness, and other factors. Treatment can address these co-occurring concerns. Counseling covers topics such as identity exploration, discrimination, gender expression, and identity affirming.
Residential treatment can be short term or long term. Sessions with family can be scheduled on client request. Therapies include therapy dog meditation, aromatherapy and equine therapy. Educational classes teach living skills, healthy relationships, financial skills, and sexual health education. HIV testing is available. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is also offered.
Outpatient Treatment Options
The partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an outpatient service that involves six hours of treatment per day seven days per week. Clients in the PHP are invited to reside at the Springhill house, an off-campus living environment. Meals are served at the residential center on Martin Drive.
Their intensive outpatient program (IOP) is offered for those not needing detoxification. Clients attend a minimum of two meetings per week. Psychoeducation treatment is used with a new topic presented each week. The group meets Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
High intensity outpatient programming requires attending a total of 20 hours of treatment per week over four days per week. The group meets Monday through Thursday 9:00 am to 2:30 pm.
Scholarships are available for clients who need sober housing while in an IOP. The house is located in uptown Minneapolis. Scholarships are based on availability and individual need.
