About Philadelphia VA Medical Center Corporal Michael J Crescenz VA Clinic

The Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania delivers Veteran addiction treatment through its on campus addiction recovery unit.

The ARU provides residential and outpatient substance use care, an opioid treatment program and outpatient detox, Suboxone therapy and counseling for alcohol, opioid and polysubstance use.

In Person and Virtual Care

The Addiction Recovery Unit at the Crescenz VA in Philadelphia accepts Veterans with or without an appointment and does not require a referral, which is a unique feature for substance use programs.

Virtual visits are also available and those need to be scheduled in advance.

If you are seeking help on a given day, this removes the wait that may derail that decision. I want to note that parking is pretty limited so the facility advises arriving at least 30 minutes early.

Medical and Pain Resources

Because the ARU sits on the seventh floor of a full service VA hospital, addiction treatment at the Crescenz VA can coordinate with psychiatric and medical as well as social work and pain management services on the same campus.

The opioid treatment program also provides counseling and monitoring for Veterans who need opioid therapy for chronic pain.

This makes the ARU a good fit if your substance use overlaps with PTSD, trauma or complex medical needs rather than those seeking a single focus program.

Care is provided free to eligible Veterans across Philadelphia and six surrounding counties in southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey with DAV transportation available for those who qualify.
