About Native Healing Program
The Native Healing Program (NHP) provides substance abuse treatment in Rapid City, South Dakota. They specialize in recovery services for Native Americans and focus on the unique concerns and experiences they may have related to substance use. The services are free with proof of tribal enrollment.
Healing Based on Heritage and Culture
NHP embraces the traditional concepts for treatment known to many Native Americans. They educate on the historical trauma concerns and the effects personal struggles and experiences may have regarding addiction. Their cultural treatment includes smudging and prayer for every session.
They also offer times for the sweat lodge (Inipi). The Inipi ceremony focuses on purification and has been passed down from the Lakota people for many generations. Community workshops are also available for older teens and young adults to arm them with healthy coping techniques.
DUI Classes
NHP provides DUI classes in person for clients with proof of tribal enrollment. A certified facilitator conducts the 12-hour classes for DUI-1 offenders.
Aftercare Program
They offer support to those in early recovery, which includes relapse prevention planning, resources, and activities to reduce stress. Guests have an aftercare counselor who will assist with a plan for maintaining sobriety. They also have group sessions over Zoom for more convenience.
