About Kootenai Recovery Community Center
Kootenai Recovery Community Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, provides non clinical free recovery support services that are peer based. The center provides resources for skill building, education, information, support and socialization for adults in recovery.
Support Groups and Events
Peer-led recovery groups coordinate with Kootena to advertise their group events being offered. In addition to support and recovery solutions, art therapy and mental wellness support groups are available.
Events include outings such as a candlelight vigil in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day, meet the Idaho Recovery Open-road Awareness Ride (IROAR) riders, advanced mentor training, bowling and arts and crafts.
Community-Based Support
A Day One program provides support for individuals who have completed inpatient treatment and are reentering the community. Hands-on support and relationship building is the primary focus during the first couple of days, and support can last indefinitely. Day One Plus is a program for incarcerated individuals returning to the community.
Community members can sign up for the Telephone Recovery Support Program. Trained individuals and volunteers call members on the list to check in and provide support.
Educating the Community
Their Recovery Advocacy Movement seeks to remove the stigma associated with addiction and educate the public about the disease of addiction and recovery. Efforts are made by community members who are in recovery.
Family Services
The center also provides support for families. Hybrid Al-Anon and Alateen groups provide support for families and teenagers whose lives have been affected by someone else’s addiction. A 12-week online course is available to those supporting an individual’s recovery.
