About Howard Center Safe Recovery
Howard Center Safe Recovery is a Burlington, Vermont substance use recovery program specializing in harm reduction and low-barrier support for people at every stage of the recovery spectrum.
The program serves individuals who are actively using drugs, in relapse or in sustained recovery, with particular focus on those who use opioids or inject drugs.
Their mission is to meet people where they are reducing drug-related harm and overdose risk while connecting individuals to treatment and ongoing resources.
Harm Reduction and Overdose Prevention
At the heart of Safe Recovery is a low-barrier harm reduction model that supports people whether or not they are ready for abstinence-based treatment.
Services include sterile syringe access, Narcan distribution, overdose prevention education, fentanyl and xylazine test strips and HIV and Hepatitis C testing with linkage to care.
Many of these services are free and available anonymously. Walk-ins are welcome and no appointment is required, making it easy to get help fast.
Same-Day Medication Option
Safe Recovery offers a low-barrier buprenorphine program with same-day access to medication for opioid use disorder.
This is paired with wraparound support including care management, peer support groups, counseling and drug treatment options guidance to help build a lasting foundation for recovery.
