Howard Center Act One And Bridge Program

Howard Center ACT 1 and Bridge Program was a substance use treatment and detoxification center in Burlington, Vermont, historically offering crisis stabilization, short term detox and referral services at 184 Pearl Street.

The program combined immediate sobriety support with 24 hour non medical withdrawal stabilization for adults and young adults.

Please note that Howard Center has suspended operations of both ACT 1 and Bridge due to staffing shortages, with the intention to reopen when workforce and operational challenges are resolved.

12 Step Facilitation

Historically, care could begin with an initial screening through ACT 1, which determined whether an individual could safely remain in the program, needed hospital care or required additional support.

Bridge provided short term, non medical detoxification and withdrawal management for alcohol, cocaine, methamphetamine and opioids.

Clients received clinical assessment, medical oversight and evidence based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, family therapy and 12 step facilitation.

The program also offered discharge planning, continuing care plans, and referrals to more intensive treatment.
