Who Gets Care in Indiana

Residential care at Hillcrest is for male and female youth ages 10 to 21. They're wards of the court, or they need services through the Department of Child Services. The program takes youth from any county in Indiana, with staff on duty 24 hours a day.

If you're arranging outpatient care for a teen's substance use yourself, a self referral is one way in. The team also takes a Department of Child Services referral or a Juvenile Probation Department referral, and the program serves southwestern Indiana.

Treatment Levels in Evansville

Both of Hillcrest's youth substance programs use the Seven Challenges program, and both are for ages 13 to 18. In residential substance treatment, the teen lives at the Evansville campus, and a level system helps each child measure progress. An Indiana licensed teacher tracks attendance, grades and behavior, and there's evening tutoring for the children in residential care.

The outpatient program lasts 16 weeks and includes group therapy, individual therapy and family therapy. You'll make the trip to Evansville and then home again across those weeks.

The state contracts for the youth programs. Adult outpatient therapy includes substance treatment and takes Medicaid and self pay, and it's for ages 18 and over.
