About Helping Up Mission
Helping Up Mission is a faith based nonprofit in Baltimore providing long-term residential addiction recovery services for men and women experiencing substance use disorders and homelessness. The organization integrates 12-step principles, clinical counseling and cognitive behavioral therapy to address addiction, co-occurring mental health conditions and trauma. Helping Up Mission combines faith and science through a structured therapeutic community model that rebuilds lives with spiritual development, behavioral health support and practical life skills.
Long Term Residential Addiction Recovery in Baltimore
Helping Up Mission's core specialty is its year-long Spiritual Recovery Program, a phased residential model designed for adults 21 and older. The program blends 12-step therapeutic community principles with professional counseling, CBT and holistic enrichment supports like therapeutic art and accountability meetings.
Participants move through structured phases that address the root causes of addiction while building education, workforce readiness, and life skills. Treatment targets substance use, self-destructive behaviors, and trauma through group counseling, individual sessions and peer support, with clear milestones to guide progress from admission through graduation and post-program housing.
Recovery Support for Women and Children
Helping Up Mission operates a dedicated Center for Women & Children that welcomes pregnant women and new mothers with infants. This program provides a secure, home like environment with individual family suites, allowing mothers to stay with their babies while receiving trauma informed care, sobriety support and family wellness services throughout the full recovery journey.
Treatment and Programs Free of Cost
Programs are offered at no cost, with possible cost-sharing arrangements for those with sustained employment income.
Services are available at two Baltimore locations: the Men's Center at 1029 East Baltimore Street and the Center for Women & Children at 1216 East Baltimore Street, with 24/7 help access via hotline and Mobile Street Outreach connecting individuals living unsheltered to care.
