About Hawaii Island Sober Living Honu House
The Kailua Kona campus sits on the slopes of Hualalai and looks over the Pacific Ocean.
Honu House Hawaii is a residential addiction treatment center in Hawaii for adults 18 and over of all genders, in a co-ed setting. They don’t offer sober living. Daily 12-step meetings and medically monitored detox, a form of withdrawal care with clinical oversight, are part of the stay.
Ocean Therapy and the Stay
Ocean therapy in Kailua Kona covers swimming several times a week, and surfing comes up on special occasions. You stay on the Honu House campus through treatment instead of going home each evening, so both fall on days you’re already there. Rooms can be private or shared.
Support at the facility runs around the clock, with a registered nurse and counselors on-site and a physician and a physician assistant on call.
They use acupuncture, cold plunge therapy and a hyperbaric oxygen chamber that raises air pressure. Family counseling includes family systems therapy, which looks at how family patterns work.
