About Guiding Light Mission
Located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Guiding Light Mission is an intensive drug and alcohol rehab center that offers specifically designed care for both men and women who are struggling with addiction. They offer several programs such as their residential rehab and their long-term sober living program.
Gender Specific and Faith Based Residential Rehab
They offer innovative recovery for men by providing a four month residential experience that can cultivate a sense of community, peer support, and accountability. They focus on long-term recovery by providing different therapy practices, life coaching, and spiritual direction. They also have support groups and provide psychosocial education and exercise practices.
This is a faith based treatment program. They make it very clear that their goal is to have men wake up to the life that God has given them, a life where they are free and sober and connected to God in a real way.
The recovery program that they've designed for women has the same goal in mind. It aligns with the same structure and principles as their successful men's recovery program, but with tweaks that are catered to the specific needs of women. They offer a beautiful home for you to live in as their client while you attend day programs on their Aquinas College campus.
Free Recovery Services for Men and Women
They offer this programming at no cost to the participant. I was impressed by this because they claim that you don't need insurance or a time limit, since many generous donors have made it possible for you to get treatment absolutely free.
Sober Living Homes for Continued Recovery
Iron House is a community of two-bedroom apartments that have been redone and renovated for residents who are working full-time and paying a small rent fee. Here they’ll participate in support groups and community meetings, and help with things like yard work and property maintenance. On average, men live here for a little over a year, or as long as 2 to 3 years, as they build their new lives.
