First to Serve Outreach Ministries

First To Serve Outreach Ministries is a Los Angeles based 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing substance abuse recovery and supportive housing services for adults and families in South Central Los Angeles.

The organization offers transitional and interim housing and social model recovery support with case management as well as counseling for clients facing addiction and co-occurring disorders in addition to domestic violence and homelessness.

Its mission centers on delivering comprehensive wraparound care to economically disadvantaged community members so they can rebuild stability and lasting recovery.

Housing-Based Addiction Recovery

First To Serve's core specialty is housing-integrated substance abuse recovery, with 277 interim housing beds across nine locations and dedicated transitional housing for men in recovery.

Each site offers 24 hour staffing and meals, laundry, transportation, and on-site case management to support sustained sobriety.

Recovery services follow a social model approach and may incorporate evidence based techniques such as CBT and DBT, motivational interviewing and the Matrix Model, 12-step facilitation, and relapse prevention planning.

Counseling is paired with life skills classes, employment assistance, and linkages to medical and mental health care to address the root causes of substance use.

Specialized Support for Women and Families

Through House of Dignity 1 and 2, First To Serve provides dedicated housing for women, women with children, and survivors of domestic violence in SPA-6.

These programs combine trauma informed recovery support with domestic violence education, family reunification efforts, and housing navigation.
