About River Valley Health
River Valley Health, formerly operating as Cherokee Health Systems Knox County Center City, is an integrated healthcare center in Knoxville, Tennessee offering outpatient addiction treatment and behavioral health services.
The program supports adults, young adults and older adults navigating alcohol and opioid use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions and the challenges of long term recovery.
Their mission centers on making whole person care accessible to every patient across East Tennessee and Southern Appalachia regardless of ability to pay.
Integrated Outpatient Treatment
The Extended Outpatient Program is built for adults seeking structured, community based recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. Treatment blends medication assisted treatment, group therapy and linkage to primary care, all coordinated under one integrated health system.
Sessions draw on cognitive behavioral therapy, motivation enhancement therapy and family systems theory with access to DBT, distress tolerance groups and individual behavioral health visits.
This layered approach targets both substance use patterns and the underlying mental, physical and relational factors that fuel them.
Peer Recovery Support
Certified Peer Recovery Specialists and Tennessee Recovery Navigators work alongside clinicians to provide advocacy, action planning and connections to higher levels of care such as detox, residential and sober living.
The center also offers specialized prenatal, postpartum and pediatric services for pregnant women with opioid dependence and their newborns.
