Brighter Day Community Health Services

Brighter Day Community Health Services is a nonprofit outpatient addiction treatment center in Gary, Indiana and certified by the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction.

They offer outpatient and intensive outpatient care as well as individual, family and group counseling, drug screening, telehealth and evidence based approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing for adults and adolescents with substance use and mental health disorders.

DIVAS Program for Young Women

Brighter Day runs DIVAS which is a program designed for girls ages 5 to 18 that promotes prevention and self esteem, self respect and abstinence.

Treatment also includes psychiatric care and education led by teachers to keep children on track with school.

The program is funded by a grant from the City of Gary's ARPA fund and administered by the Legacy Foundation. This shows how the city is invested in youth prevention work.

Recovery Works Diversion Program

Recovery Works is Brighter Day's diversion style program that provides community based interventions that prioritizes your recovery rather than incarceration while maintaining community safety.

Rather than a standard clinical track, it functions as a justice oriented pathway for people whose substance use has brought them into contact with the legal system.

Brighter Day represents a local nonprofit route into treatment that a conventional outpatient center would not signal. The organization also runs a dedicated track for domestic violence survivors and includes parenting support, which can intersect with diversion cases.

Brighter Day accepts Medicaid, self payment as well as and various state and federal funding sources.
